re: i hate elscorcho...
i keep accidently deleting my baseball notes, which i promised to send niv daily...here comes the third attempt at todays notes (which have been pared from 7 to 5 and now to 3 because it keeps not working).
1. Erick Almonte should be the starting shortstop for the Yankees until July. Instead, the Yanks will rush Jeter back (because he will want to and because Steinbrenner will continue to basically call Derek a pussy), and his shoulder will hamper his swing and his agressiveness in the field and on the basepaths. The Yankees are good enough to play without DJ for a while, and the smartest thing they can do is be very over cautious with him and have him fully healthy for the stretch run and the playoffs.
2. Sammy Sosa is about to get red hot...just wait. He is pressing right now, in his attempt to hit 500, but once he either gets that, or gives up trying, he will relax, and his swing will come back to him. He goes on these streaks once in a while where he hits like 8 in a week, and that is coming soon.
3. The Montreal Expos will win the East. All of the sudden a rotation of Vazquez, Armas, El Duque and Zach Day (who dominated yesterday) is looking good, and between Vidro, Vlad and a generally solid lineup, they can hit the ball and put up runs. Look for the 'Spos to see the postseason this year.
that is all
re: chadwick
if you want a little spot on elscorcho for all this baseball jibber-jabber, let me know. i can set up a nice response system too if you want.
re: now look here, mr T
i dont appreciate my fine comments being referred to as jibber-jabber...however, my own little area on elscorcho would quite exciting...
re: national past time
here are my notes for the day (which will continue to be posted here until you set up somewhere else for me to post them)...
1. I have Brian Jordan on one of my fantasy teams, and he leads my team with 3 HR, 4 runs scored, and is second with 5 RBI (all this while batting under .270, which is quite a feat...basically, he either goes yard or doesn't reach base...). One of my friends says to me last night, "I have Jordan in my league too...looks like a pretty smart pick, huh? He's gonna have a HUGE season." No. He's not. Anyone who is trying to justify a pick based on 5 days of stats is stupid. Go to yahoo's fantasy player rankings. The top player in baseball as of this moment: Jake Peavy. Jake freaking Peavy. Do you even know who he is? Point is, nothing that has happened this week means anything (except Jeter getting hurt...that kinda sucks for the yankees) so don't go breaking up your team or something cause you are off to a "bad start".
2. I think Carl Crawford might be for real. Yeah, as I just said, its early, but he has a good looking swing, runs well, and is really playing hard right now. The D-Rays are better than I thought (good news for Red Sox fans...), and there some exciting players (toby hall, aubrey huff, rocco baldelli, carl crawford) on this team.
3. Need a pitcher? Consider going after Mark Redman, of the Marlins. Young guy, pitched well in his first start this year, and big things have been expected of him. He had solid numbers with Detroit last year (4.21 ERA isn't bad, 30 starts and 3 CG is not bad either) but Detroit never wins, so he went 8-15. He could easily turn that around this year.
re: i dunno..
geoff called you the larry king of elscorcho. then he said he likes reading your posts because its like you are right there in the same room and he wants to punch you. i wish andrew visited the site so he could read this too. yeah, so the executive board of elscorcho, aka me and geoff, decided to give you a slot... so i'm gonna make that up at some point, probably during this upcoming week.
re: punched in the face?
and im supposed to live with him next year?
what happens if, say, we are in the room, and i start talking?
re: not in the face
chad how many times have i ever punched you? dont be scared, i do have some sort of self-restraint. and if you follow in the footsteps of good old larry, you'll get to marry lots of women who are much younger than you. and look like an owl. so thats something to look forward to.

re: proof that i am reading
Every time I talk to you or Geoff, you tell me I really need to check out elscorcho, even though I usually do without your prompting, so this is here as a testament to the fact that I read elscorcho.
It is also here to ask if you have any idea where some more recent info on stories like the one on radiohead might be. As you may or may not know, I am interning at a TV station right now, and one thing they want me to do is bring in interesting story ideas, and this is one that hasn't been covered. If you have any clue where to find anything on napster et al promoting albums and aiding sales, let me know.
Also, I think that losing a game to the Devil Rays and then needing 16 innings to beat them the next day officially qualifies the Red Sox as the worst team in baseball. That being said, losing to the Orioles is not much better...why did they bench Hafner in the late innings of a game he was 3-4 with a stolen base in??
