bhugs, forums, and photos

2227-july07-2003
i'm going to handle this post in 3 parts, with the 3rd part first, the 2nd part last, and the 1st part second.

1) check out the photos! i put thumbnails in there now... its a little slow, but its also hot. hopefully it doesn't kill my computer (as it might, as it might)

2) look, hugs, i vaguely remember who you are, i have a feeling you shouldn't be old enough to go to college (let alone harvard, jesus, you got some interesting typing going on). e-mail me if you aren't full of shit. don't expect much from me, i'm wary of scary kids who come out of nowhere and post lots of !'s on my website.

3) i deleted the forums. nobody used em, so nobody should care all that much. i care, because it hurt... this is the 2nd time i've had elscorcho forums that i was forced to delete.

that's it, i hope the photos section makes you all happy. peace!

tis a sad day when the forums go :

the thumbnails. I love them. Do you grab a 100x100 pixel square at a centered point in each picture or at an X-Y location that's theoretically near the center? Either way they are awesome. Now if the name of each photo came up when you dragged the mouse over it... Or maybe it gets flashed into a box above/to the side? :)

hot!

1) x-y location near the center, since the images are either 640x480 or 576x768 (arbitrary, i know)
2) i added alt values to all the img tags. what this means is when you leave the mouse over a thumbnail, the name of the picture will show up. of course, when you view the picture, the name shows up there too.

i used the forums...

re: chad's lies

no, chad, you made me install the forums because you said you wanted to talk about baseball, then you posted 2 times. if you started posting immediately, the forums would have kept running off their initial interest (people posted when i first set it up!) and maybe i wouldn't have deleted the damn things. all your fault, chad.

re: the midwest

from: bbb (2003-07-15 20:30:03)

ok, in the house minutes niv defends cleveland as being "east" as opposed to the midwest. here are 2 facts that dispute that theory:
1- police officials are concentrating their search for the 2 missing new hampshire kids in the midwest, focusing on ohio.
2- on the bottle of bath and body works shower gel in our shower, it says "from america's heartland" and gives the address as ohio. america's heartland is cows and cornfields, i.e. the midwest.

sorry bbb

re: oh flori

from: niv (2003-07-16 00:48:29)

point #1 is illogical. its an arbitrary use of the label "midwest". it's like saying "officials are scouring the rocky mountains, focusing in new york." it means nothing, other than the fact that you consider ohio in the midwest, and somehow that puts cleveland in the midwest (see below as to why that is wrong)

point #2 is also illogical. ohio is not cleveland, cleveland is not ohio. this subtlety is very very important. i think anyone who has been to the east side of cleveland can back me up in saying it is a very east-coast city (unlike even the west side of cleveland). if that doesn't make sense to you, you should try to broaden your definitions of geography and regions, because having an atlantic coastline isn't a requirement for being an east coast city.
