so i've been listening to a couple cds recently, and i think i need to share with you the following tidbits

1) the new jane's addiction cd (strays) is really good. no, really. if you are at all interested by more mellow rock (as opposed to, i dunno, deftones), you'd dig it.

2) speaking of the deftones, their new cd is difficult. real real difficult. and by that, i mean it is hard to get into without like 30 listens. but i'm near that mark now, and thus i'm starting to dig it. it is not easy to approach though, so i'd suggest listening to white pony or around the fur first, if you haven't listened to much deftones before.

3) new zeppelin is amazing. its called "how the west was won", its $22 at best buy, i suggest you all go buy it right now if you have ever found yourself enjoying a zeppelin song.

the amazing part of this album is that, while it is a "live" cd, it is not one straight set, but instead a super engineered album that creates an excellent "live" experience. apparently, they (zeppelin) took a bunch of their songs from their LA proper and long beach shows and spliced the shit out of them, so that they had the best of both sets. some songs are straight from LA, some are straight from long beach, others are mostly from one, but with parts from other shows put in to replace sound problems or other issues. i dunno, its complicated, but the bottom line is that it is an amazing amazing album.

4) i've been listening to a little bit of mogwai. they are cynical, dark, and really really cool. the cd is called... uh, lemme look. happy songs for happy people. yeah, its cool

5) reason 1 i should get hit - i like the new guster song. i'm sorry, but its really catchy. geoff, make sure i pay in full for this.

6) revis, surprisingly, isn't that bad, even though their single screams "one hit wonder". the cd is overall alright, worth a listen or two. thad, i'm lookin at you.

7) i still have a shitload of music i wanna listen to, such as the radiohead 2 dollar bill show and more phrenology (roots cd from last year which i didn't listen to nearly enough). one cd i have no interest in listening to is st. anger.

8) speaking of metallica, i've had a renaissance of sorts with the black album. it is brilliant. there is no reason to listen to any other metallica album, i think. the black album just blows me away every time. something to discuss next time you're at a party with people who like the rock music - 1991 had the most good rock albums ever. i'm not really sure what other year could come close.

9) reason 2 to hit me - i haven't listened to my 3cd alice in chains box set yet. i'm so naughty.

yeah, that's it. i didn't expect to write out 9 bullet points when i started this post, but the new jane's addiction (listenin to it now) inspired me. i think i'm gonna go all livejournal on your asses and add the long talked about "currently listening to" field to my posts. or does nobody care what music i listen to? i know thad has that in his profile now (currently in the cd player) and i think it is a good, important thing to make other people aware of.

ok, later!

Music News You Can Use -- That's a phrase used by my favorite radio station in Seattle, 107.7 The End. But really I'll just give some music news in my life, rather than what you can use.

I saw Pearl Jam and Sleater-Kinney last Friday. They both rocked the house. It went sorta like this: Eddie, Eddie so hot, play those wonderful acoustic songs for us. Sleater-Kinney: 3 hot chicks, rock and roll, yaaay yaay yaay (lost my voice). Then a couple more hours of PJ, so much fun, and then the covers started. A song by the Ramones, Fortunate Son by CCR, Neil Young's Rocking in the Free World. Then they come back for the third encore just so they can play Yellow Leadbetter and finish up the show right. mmmmmmm, good times.

In other music news I have no more space on my computer, so I can't download any new music. I really should clean out my old stuff, so I can get new stuff. I don't have a cd burner though, so that's a pain. And right now I'm listening to a fabulous cd, that I just resurrected--It's a Special Bonus Cd by the Old 97s. It's good times.

Well now that I've posted/responded a lot, and taken over Niv's section, hehe, I'll leave you all to enjoy this post. Happy Friday!!
