full out montreal post
so we went up to vermont on friday, to stay at parker's house. the drive up was fine, kinda cramped (5 deep in thad's car, not too bad). we left around 8, got up there around 11. thanks to hawkblog (chad's term, i'm trying it out), we had a lot to talk about - my friends at school read it, nitin! be happy! anyways, we had a good discussion, it was enjoyable, and we eventually got up to parker's house around 11.
parker has a nice house. we watched ice age and played trivial pursuit and look up baseball scores. it was not unlike a normal night at 25 warner. hehe.
next day we woke up and ate some bagels, and left parker's around 12:30. we went to downtown burlington, which jon is quite proud of, and roamed around - ate ben and jerry's in burlington, which is something (no, not the original one). burlington is nice enough, very small but cute, kind of. i don't know, it was fine. hehe.
left for montreal around 2 maybe? i dunno, we got up there at 4 (a little hassle at the border, a little traffic on the bridge, nothing too bad). it was rainy up there the whole weekend, but that didn't put a damper on our fun! ok hit me for that one. but seriously, it was a good time. we got to the hotel a little after 4, so i guess we left burlington earlier than i thought. anyways, we watched the end of the sox-yankees game (sox win in the bottom of the 9th), then we went walkin around the area close to us. we couldn't find a place to change money, and most places were closed, so we just went down to olympic stadium. after some hardcore arguing (read: we didn't do anything), we bought tickets for $5 cdn ($3.50 us!!). those put us in right field, midlevel, not bad at all. they even gave 30% on US currency, which was nice. and we got to hear a great national anthem (o canada is goood). so yeah, i got a couple of hot dogs, a coke, and a bag of chips for like $6.50 US (9cdn), we got great seats for cheap, we chanted "larr-ry" at chipper jones, we saw vlad have the worst misplay of a flyball EVER (the turf made the ball bounce over his head), and we saw the braves score 14 runs (we left in the 8th, it was getting boring). also, we got there early enough to see some braves BP, which was sweet. javy lopez hits the ball far, that's all i'm going to say about that.
so we left the game and went back to the hotel, changed quickly, and went to the casino. after suffering through the traffic there, we changed some more money and the two jons hit the blackjack tables. this particular table, with its $15 cdn limit, did not entice me, so i let them feel it out first. of course, this table sucked complete ass and they both lost money. we ran away quickly to the $5min craps table.
hottest
craps
table
ever
we all won! we meaning thad, me, asian, and parker. ken and phil chose not to play this time, but i am sure that next time we go to a casino they will either not be there or playing right along side us. anyways, the casino was great, it was just like any other casino trip, except we won money, so it was really just like half the casino trips i've been on. hehe.
asian jon had an amazing roll at craps too. my roll sucked, but his was mindblowingly good. that was also cool.
we went back to the hotel, it was around 2 by now, and then we went to bars. i got shitfaced.
then pizza was eaten.
i'm breezing over a lot of details now, because i really don't care. i'm hungry and i wanna go home, which i will soon. also, i realized this post was missing details up and down, left and right, and it just is not doing this trip justice. like, every time i found a french radio station i said "shut up asshole" to the french guy talking. actually, a shitload of french jokes were made, predictably. ken even made a very subtle one involving napoleon.
yeah yeah this post sucked. you should ask someone who went - the trip was awesome. the next big adventure is nyc on the 9th, maybe i won't post about it and just let the pictures do the talking.
anyways, i'm leaving work real early today, and i'll go home and do these things:
1) eat lunch
2) go to the bank
3) go to ghettoglen for a minute
4) get groceries
5) mail something
6) put pictures online
so, get pumped.

re: no one should ever respond to the same post twice
but i am doing it anyway. i just read the minutes of the 25 Warner meeting y'all had a few weeks ago. Most entertaining thing i have ever read on this site. niv, you should post more things that other, funnier people write. also, cleveland is definitely midwest. cleveland is a whole hell of a lot more like a chicago or st louis than it is a new york or a boston. besides, anything surround on three sides by farmland, especially when the fourth side is a lake, has to be midwest.
re:
1) chad, i meant the east side of cleveland
2) chad, i edited the meeting notes - and they weren't that funny, to be honest (the actions were funnier than the additions made by secretary thad)
3) ajay, stop saying perchance
re:
im down for chautauqua.
and
this post::niv as new sports guy columns::sports guy
re:
that was harsh. i think. maybe i should just retire.
wait, flesh out that analogy further, geoff, so i may fully understand your criticism.
also, chad, i don't think i can go to chautauqua... unfortunately
re:
for one, let me apologize for butchering the analogy structure. it should read as follows:
this post:niv :: new sports guy columns:sports guy
it is the exactly the same in that i got excited to read it, thinking it would be up there with your other epic columns, only to be very... underwhelmed. foxwoods column... i felt like i was in the car with you guys. this time, im just not feeling it at all.
re: the suckiness of this column
to be fair, i did abort the entire effort. do not despair, loyal readers. i shall rise, like the phoenix, and replace the memory of this putrid column with another column of epic greatness. or subtle emo-ness. i haven't decided yet, but either way it'll beat the crap out of this post.

re: another fun trip possibility
so, niv, my family is getting rid of our place at chautauqua, site of such famous events as those two times we all went to chautauqua, and so this is the last summer to go there. i dont know how far a drive it is for you, i would guess 8ish hours, which is about what it is for me, but if i can convince a friend of mine to drive there in midaugust, what are the chances you would drive there too? why am i posting this here? i have no idea. except geoff might want to come. and anyone else. if this happens, you are all invited (which i can confidently post here because the chances are, it wont happen)
