re: cities and states
dont forget the minnesota twins, or the former california angels. hell, in minnesota, they are all minnesota and not minneapolis or st. paul (twins, vikings, t-wolves, wild). the colorado rockies too. texas rangers. apparently it isnt that hard to do. new jersey nets/devils as well. its a pretty common thing. seeing as the cities are more or less arbitrary anyway, and are only picked based on size of potential fan base, why not increase that size a ton by being the "florida team" instead of just the "miami team?"
re: new jersey
also, new jersey sucks and has no cities. i mean, its just a league trying really hard to add another NYC-regional team without seeming nyc-centric. trenton devils? perth amboy nets? cmon now.
re:
all im sayin is that no matter what, any name makes more sense than the "golden state warriors."
re: g state
what about the new england patriots? do we really need to name teams after regions? isnt colorado the only baseball team in its region? why not the mountain west rockies? the pacific northwest mariners? the canada raptors?

re: Geoff was right
I agree ... I am a big yankee fan and I am hard pressed to find enough of a cheering section in me. Not because i don't want them to win ... but really its the marlins. Who cares about the marlins ...
and one more thing - how do you have a baseball team that represents a state and not a city. I know the arizona diamondbacks does that stupid shit too, but its annoying.
