i was inspire to post because i was sitting here, and my phone rang, and as soon as i picked it up and said "hello", a computer's voice said "hello. please wait to speak to the next available representative. it is important that we speak with you." it repeated this a few times, and then it hung up. i called the number (847 281-3020) back and i get a weird series of beeps. i think this area code is from chicago... that's all i got about that.
chad and geoff and i have a site up where we argue about sports. or at least, sports for now. it's called the ire of chad, and there is a link on the sidebar.
i added a "recent comments" section to the sidebar. just promoting discussion!
i've tweaked the stylesheet some. not done yet. renamed 'blues' to 'the blues'. added some subtle touches to stoic muenster, and i have more yet to add - header graphics, shadows for the side borders, and some stuff i haven't even figured out yet. i'm trying to make this particular theme look the sharpest.
oh and i'm going to redo the theme changer at some point. yeah.
and i have photos to add.
lots of real work to do today though, which is nice. i find that when i'm not busy i play around with elscorcho and get tired. when i am busy i get in nice grooves of getting work done, and i feel energetic and motivated and stuff. its weird that _not_ doing work gets me tired, and doing work gives me energy, but i was never quite right.
UPDATE: this is my boss iming me
BriMcCarthy02 (2:16:38 PM): u can work from hoome tomorrow if you want, I am going to.

re: Things for you to Fix
I have something for you to do on elscorcho-make a link going from the gallery section -> niv.elscorcho.org or just elscorcho.org. I found myself quite peeved when i actually had to move my hands to the keyboard to retype the web address. Also, has anyone else commented on a picture besides me? (most insane night ever, #39)
re: movie
saw fahrenheit 9/11 today. quite a movie. it was very well done, and while it is certainly flagrant propaganda, it was also incredibly factually well-put together. i would encourage anyone to check it out.
re: 847-281-3020!!
847-281-3020!!
Aiyee! They have been calling me for the past couple of months. So annoying. They just called and the conversation went like this:
Me: Hello
Them: (they launch into this speech about the call being recorded)
Me: You have the wrong number - you called last night.
Them: This is xxx-xxx-xxxx?
Me: Yes.
Them: It's the wrong number? How can this be the wrong number?
Me: No idea. We've had this number for 5 years.
Them: Five years? No no.
-----------------------
I did ask who they were calling for and they gave me this real fake sounding name.
The guy claimed to be from a company called Aero Financial Service. I assume they are a collection agency and mister Floppypants owes them money.
wankers.
re: correction
it's Arrow, not Aero

re: 847-281-3020
Thanks for posting the information about 847-281-3020. They called here and had me mixed up with someone in my town with the same name. Your post help me track them down.
re: what is the mailing address for this number?
some one from this number has been calling my job after i leave work and talking crazy to my co-workers on 2nd. shift. who ever it is doesn't realize that his phone calls will not make me loose my job, i'm have a civil service job and HRO informed me that i'm fine.
re: thank you !
your posting for 847-281-3020 helped me track them down as well. They keep calling, asking for someone I've never heard of, refuse to tell me who they are, hangup on me, and call again the next day - what fuck-ups. Thanks again.
re: bringing down the establishment
I think we have a full-fledged, "bring down this crazy company" movement on our hands. Niv, call Bill...let's get a protest started to support the workers and end the tyranny of corporate phones!!
re: Caller ID listed Illinois Call
I received a call from them this morning asking for my dead-beat step son, and told them to not call here anymore (gave them my mother-in-law's number! LOL) Anyway, caller ID listed it as Illinois Call
re: LEAVE US ALONE
These people have been calling me A LOT. This morning alone they called three times, 2 minutes apart!!! I am AT WORK! Not to mention they are calling my cell phone!! Is there anything we can do to stop this? I am soooo glad I found this information out, thanks to all of you! I wish I could block them!
re: "Friendly customer service" my ass!
I looked up the site and called the number of their so-called "friendly" customer service, at which point the lady asked my number that they have been calling and she tells me they have no record of my number and they did not call. I mentioned this site and told them I am obviously not the only one they are hounding...she raised her voice and I did the same and hung up. They have called over 5 times in the last week on my cell phone...BUT they NEVER CALLED...whatever! There should be a law against crap like this! I am thru venting now...have a nice day! Beware of their "friendly" staff!
re: 3am call!
Yeah, I got the same damn call but at 3am in the morning!! Well, I don't pick up strange calls and I can turn off the ringer on my phone just as easily and caller ID. As long as you don't pick up the phone, ever, they can't bother you. My advice, don't pick up for those of you at home. As for you work people, find a lawyer, send them a nasty letter.
re: JoAnn from PA
Got a call twice from this # both times at 6:00AM. No one calls me at that hour unless someone is sick or dead!!! I'm Glad I'm not the only one...
re: Got a location, sex & age on this caller!
Hi, just did a People Search online and found out this much--the 847-281-3020 is a Libertyville, IL. phone number (land line). I also got some latitude, etc numbers if anyone knows and understands that. I'd be happy to send it along! It belongs to a 60 year old male. I'm relieved to know that we (husband & myself) are not the only ones this has been happening to. . .I even suspected my poor hubby of "fooling around". So glad I didn't actually approach him about this frickin' number! Thanks everyone!
re: These idiots need to pay
They've called me 5 times over the past week. They never say antything. Just get these weird tones. Why on earth would someone do this so systematically to so many people? There must be something weird behind this, and there must be something that can be done about it....
re: I only wish i were you!!!!!
I live in Hamilton IL. Our number has the same prefix as the area code in question. (847)
There number 847-281-3020
Our number 217-847-(****)
Everytime these people call someone in our area code and they call it back it rings me. It's an area code thing I guess.
You can only guess how these people treat me.(Not good)
These a-holes up north are really making bad for us and the f-ing phone company says they don't have a problem. Well at 12:30 some night when these people call someone and then they call me thinking it is this number they are pissed and so am I. BUT THE PHONE COMPANY DOEN"T HAVE A PROBLEM!!! Yea right.
Any help you people can give me would help me. Thanks.
re: Me Too!
They keep calling me but I'm always in class. Another number used to call and ask for Nostakey Jose or something. Stupid as hell....
re: 847-281-3020
I have this company, or whoever it is calling my cell phone! they say nothing just some "clicking" sound, I call back and get beeps I searched the net and found this forum! this is very strange, there has to be a motive, if anyone knows more please email me
re: i have another crazy number
here are the details so far. crazy phone numbers just find me.
re: Alien invaders from another planet!! (Or Scanners!!)
Why would the bank be calling my cell phone? I never gave my bank my cell phone number!! Plus, they knew my name, and wanted the last four digits of my SS#, he he he, I gave them the month and year my dog was born. Next time they call I am really going to have some fun with them.
re: torked
847-281-3020 more info
These imbeciles have been calling my cell phone for the last week or two. I found out who they are from this site. Here's their full address:
Arrow Financial Services LLC
5996 W. Touhy Avenue
Niles, IL 6071
Phone: (800) 279-0224
web: http://www.arrow-financial.com/
I called them (listenedd to the recorded spiel, then had to ask twice for operator) twice. The first time I called, the stupid cow on the other end hung up when I wouldn't give her MY social security number!! They've got the wrong # and insist that "Shana" is there, and ask for my SSN??!! Assholes!
The second time I called a hispanic aldy called. She was actually courteous and only asked for my phone #. Said they would stop calling. Hope that worked.
re: Beware of Scammers
I only got called once, and they left a message on my machine. I found this site by typing the (847) 281-3020 into Google search. From what I am reading here, it seems like someone is scamming. NEVER give anyone your SS# and if they are a collection agency, it is against the law to call anyone before 8 a.m. and after 9 p.m. You can legally sue them for calling you and harassing you.
re: for years now, i have been confused
ever since elscorcho opened its figurative doors a few years ago, i have been a loyal reader and was always under the impression that it was here to give niv a creative and journal-tastic outlet. however, it seems that our beloved elscorcho has found a higer purpose--giving random people a place to come and vent about a company that none of us can do anything about. i think we should all go about finding any scammers we can and turn elscorcho into an all out bitch fest. which, ironically, is not that different from what niv has used it for over the years.
re: Phone Number
My husband has been recieving calls on his cell phone from that number you posted.
re: Same Thing
I got called from this number 8 times over the last 2 days and i finally answered it. I asked who was on the phone and he said he couldn't tell me unless i verified that i was me. I said if you can't tell me who you are then I can't tell you who I am. I hung up and searched the web for the phone number and found this site. lol.
re: Debt collectors deserve to be sued by smart lawyers
Check out www.lawpoint.com This guy sues debt collectors and has sued Arrow Financail too. He looks like the kind of hired-prick-lawyer who would shine a spotlight up Arrows ass for you guys...PURRfecttttt......
re: Here is what you can do....
OK- First, you must record your call with them (radio shack can help with this-- they have a few cheap recorders).
Second, inform them that they may NOT telephone you anymore, follow it up with a certified letter. (Only primary creditors may phone you at home). If they keep calling, record them. On the second or third call, go downtown to the courthouse and file a claim against them. Check with your local state laws (the fine is usually between 1,100-2,500 PER CALL).
I made 2,500 last year doing this. These folks call and harass because most people think that they can... wrong, third party creditors (collection agencies) can only harass you via the mail. If you tell them (and you need proof) that you do not want any calls.
re: Thank YOU!!!
These guys have been calling me repeatedly. Very unnerving. The representative was very abusive, with a fake Irish accent. Kept asking me for very private financial information. Anyways, just wanted to say thank you, I have a lot of information now to fight back!
re: How do they get you #?
I can't figure out how they got my home number (Since it's unlisted) AND my cell phone number?? I live in Missouri were we have No-Call. You think I can turn them in for this? It is a $3000 fine the first offense and up from there.
I can't think of a single person that I owe money to, and if I did I never give out my cell phone number to creditors.

re: D of C
didn't we establish a long time ago that this place is operating out of the chicago area? wouldn't that explain the chicago area address and area code?
re: Try SEARCH under 800-279-0224, their callback #
Arrow seems to be a national operation with many copycat set-ups, see other states' address alternate phone listings under SEARCH on their callback number 800-279-0224. On that home page credit management company listing (delete their cookies!) they list about 20 phone numbers with many area codes other than Niles, IL. These CMC are in business making money off your hardships, too. If you are online you are probably getting several pfishing scams a week that are illegally attempting to rob you to pay their bill they intend to collect this way. If you give any personal financial information whatsoever it is your problem. Further, if you surrender any financial information under implied or stated (such as ACR threatening to cut off my VISA ATM check card unless I paid a delinquent "payment" immediately* then and by phone transfer) it is gone. You may also receive suspicious calls in your area without any area code, (showing as (XXX,) whatsoever. *they claimed a deposit was returned or denied and I had to re-enter it then. Cheers.
re: ME TOO!
They've been calling my home once a day for the past week. They keep asking for someone I don't know. When I try to explain this to them, they get abusive and start yelling. I just hangup, but the calls are aggravating.
re: I called them....
I called their 800 number (800-279-0224) and spoke to customer service... I explained that I never heard of the person that they are looking for and they were very understanding. They said they would take my number out of the system and apologized for any inconvenience.
I will let you know if they keep their word...

re: comment
They've been asking for Jenn. This guy's name is "Angel" (or so he says) and every time he calls, he's sounds to be drunk/high. Angel has called my friend several times...last time, my friend had a message saying,
"Hey, it's Alex, leave a message." and then he said, "It's Angel. Jenn, you're not Alex. C'mon." Then he hung up. We don't get it. : ( Help???
re: never ends
They have been calling me for weeks and no one is ever on the other end and they are not leaving a message. I was surprised when I googled the numbe rand this site came up!
re: irritating callers
hi, i just ran across this webpage while doing a search on the phone number 874-281-3020. these people call me and so does a company called Allied Interstate. i think these are collection agencies, and they just have the wrong number. What bothers me is that they should be doing their homework better. If you look up Allied Interstate on Google, there are all kinds of bad things about them. Who's to know if a collection agency is legit or if it is some sort of telemarketing fraud/scam. I don't ever talk to them, and I check my credit report once a year so I know there is nothing weird on there. later,
mark in austin =)
p.s the caller id says Illinois Caller or something like that for the 874-281-3020 number, but i guess all of this info. has been state above already.
re: 847-281-3020
Hey,
I recieved this call last night. The caller id showed a company by the name of "Hurletron". I could tell it was some scam aristist though. I looked up this company and they having nothing to do with money. They work with auxilary printing stuff for large bussiness.
So here is my problem. The guy call's and he say's I've opened in account with some business called "Dr. Optical"? He wanted me to varify the last for digts of my ssn. Someone how he has my ssn number. This is the only thing that worries me and pisses me off!! I did some investagation from some sites inculding your forum and another one.
I have been getting mixed advice on who this company is? I know they're some type of credit agency and they want my money, but how did they get my ssn? Do I need to do a credit report to check my account?
Questions:
1. Who do I call for help? FCC, Better Business Buriuo, Hurletron, arrow-financial, my phone company, or all of them?
2. Shouldn't somebody rise up and take these credit collection companies to court?
3. Why are telephone companies so secretive and un caring for phone problems such as these. Do they have something to hide?
4. Is it even worth worring about?
If you have any response it would be great. I will love to bring these assholes to court! Just put in end to all this scam on the telephone.
re: smart
Keith, the phone call was a test. Only the chosen few rise to the challenge and follow that phone number to this site. Welcome to the center of the Universe. Congratulations.
re: Why Arrow?
Why do we think that 847-281-3020 is Arrow Financial? Because one guy on the other end of a harrassing call said so? Has anyone got any proof that the number is tied to Arrow?
I mean, it could be spoofed to caller ID, right? And we'd never know who was calling. What I can't figure out, is this: these guys are such assholes, that how does anybody ever find out how or where they are 'supposed' to send the money that is supposed to be owed? The jerkoff that keeps calling me won't even tell me what the company name or address is, he just starts yelling at me like he mistook me for his 93 year old grandmother or something.
And why in God's name is this the only thread on the whole freaking internet on these jerkoffs? Is it a small operation?
I'm asking these things because I'm a pretty smart guy, and yet this seems to be the only place where anyone has ever heard of these people. Oh, and becuase I intend to smite them with the full force and fury of my admission to practice law in the District Courts of the United States.
Fucktards.
Keith
re: 847-281-3020
Getting the same calls. I just set up my Covad VOIP system to block that number and give it a fast busy. Too bad there wasn't a way to track their address.
re: Annying calls from 847-281-3020
I've recently been receiving numerous calls from this number to my private cell phone....(May/05)
Whenever I answer these calls I only hear strange noises, beeps, and indistinguishable background noises...no one ever actually speaks to me, thus far....but it's all very annoying (and expensive-long distance). Whenever I try to call that number back I only hear very fast tones/busy signal....as when a number is out of service...
I tried looking the number up as well, and revese directory says it's coming from Libertyville, Illinois
This site was the only real info I found when I tried searching it online
Any new suggestions/leads on how to stop this annoying/likely illegal company?
Thanks!
re: thank frigging god.
I was getting really pissed off about these calls. They kept calling my wife claiming that her student loan was through them. They claimed to be a company that neither of us have ever heard of called Care Credit. Our loans are not through them, whoever they are. The guy on the phone said he was paul, and wanted me and my wife to sell our car to pay him! Demanded to know where my wife worked, how much she made, and what bills she had to pay! When she told him it wasn't any of his business, he began to cuss and yell at her! Last time he called I threatened him with a harassment law suit and the guy stammered before he quickly hung up.
re: More phonecalls....
Man...I get the same phone calls day after day, but it sounds more like a soicitation. I called arrow-financial and they sent me to some guy named Abraham who was such a jack-ass. He started threatening me that someone with the same last name owes money and then "I said listen here"....then next thing he said was "I don't need to listen..." and then he hung up. What a jerk. I called back and asked for a manager. They said what's the problem and I told them. She said "do you want the phone calls to stop, give me your SSN and account number"....I said no way. Then I told her the name that was acciated with my name and she said the calls would be put on hold. So I'm hoping no more calls.
re: info.
Alright, a yellowpages.com reverse lookup yeilded this.
We're sorry. We did not find a listing for the phone number you entered.
The phone number "(847) 281-3020" is a Libertyville, IL based phone number and the registered carrier is Mpower Communications Corp - Il. However, due to number portability, some numbers have been transferred to a new service provider other than the registered carrier.
re: alright, last one
Alright, last one then. Out of curiousity I performed a trace route on arrow-financial.com. Now, pinging the site yields an entirely different IP# then when you perform a tracert on it. Also, once it reaches arrow-financial.com the return connection is lost. I attempted this about 5 times and came up with the same result, any thoughts?
Ping IP#: 67.38.199.11
Trace IP#: 69.215.216.82
re: How This Scam Works
This is how the scam works.
They are a real collection agency. (there are many of them)
They choose to use somewhat legal, however immoral tactics.
They buy your name and consumer info from somewhere you made a purchase. (Never give consumer info at stores!)
Then they do a credit check on you. (credit info is not always accurate)
If they find ANY old unpaid debt on your credit report, they do a Lexis-Nexis search on you. With that, they have address, phone numbers, auto registrations, work numbers, employer names, and a bunch of other stuff you didn't know people knew about you. They can even get your neighbors names and sometimes CALL THEM about you!
They pretend to have purchased your old debt, and sometimes they really do.
Then they begin harassment until you pay them, even if you already paid the old debt.
So what can you do?
First make sure the old debt is paid. NEVER PAY ARROW if you can avoid it. Try to contact the old company you owe and either pay them or ask for proof that it is paid.
Second, Stand up for your rights! Laws change from state to state, but get informed and stand up to these people.
AND ALWAYS refuse to give any consumer info to companies unless you know their privacy policies.
Companies like this exist because consumers allow it.
Call your congressman's office and complain. That's how people got laws passed against telemarketers.
re: Arrow Financial Stop Calling Me
Mr. Smartass has been calling my house everyday from Libertyville, IL @ (847) 281-3020. He starts off with this call may be recorded, so I always hang up. It sounds like a recording. Finally the second time he calls today, 8:30 am Saturday, I ask if this is a real person. He says "Does it sound like a real person!?!". I ask him what he wants. He says I know what he wants. He says Kelly. So I say "Look Kelly, stop calling my house". He then says "No, you are Kelly" and I am then very confused and realize he is calling the wrong house. He then calls me a liar and says that he is going to call my house everyday, all day, until he speaks with Kelly. I ask for his name and boss' name, he will not give it and starts calling me a liar again and saying I know what he wants. So I hang up. He calls right back and starts it again. So I get on this website (thankyou) and look up Arrow Financial and call them. They have my number and a Kelly Causey. I tell them that it is the wrong number, check with Ma Bell. Imagine someone that owes them money gave them the wrong phone number. They say that the calls will stop and my name and number has been removed. We will see.
re: Me too.
I don't know what a fucktard is, but it sure makes me laugh. I am definitely going to start using that one. Thank you.
These guys call me too. I've entered two complaints at www.donotcall.gov/complaint. And I have so little occasion to receive legitimate calls from Chicago, I just never answer calls from that area code. As an experienced telecommuter, it sounds like I'm missing out on a lot of fun. I find it amusing when people yell at me from inside their cage.
One more thing, I predict this will be a subplot in the next Steve Martin movie.
re: Got the call
From this number.....person on line stated a call back number of 1-800-279-0224....
re: They're Back
About 11 months ago I started receiving a ton of wierd calls on my cell phone. No one was there or I was asked to wait for an important message. One time there was an actual person on the end of the line asking for my checking account or credit card numbers. I told him that I keep all my money in a safe deposit box at Bank Ohio. I live in California. All of a sudden the calls stopped for no apparent reason. Well, they're back. Two calls this morning in 15 minutes. I'm consulting a lawyer later today to find out how to get these guys to stop calling.
re: They have called me
These guys called my parents house where I haven't lived in 3 years. They have never called my me or my work or cell number. How do we make them stop?
re: comment
Your investigation is flawed. The domain resolves to 67.38.199.11 regardless of what tools you use; the 69 ip you listed is the _last_ responding ip on route to their server.
They (like a lot of servers) block PING requests.
re: comment
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR POSTING THE WEBSITE TO PHONE (847) 281-3020. THE http://www.arrow-financial.com/ WEBSITE GOT ME THE INFORMATION I NEEDED 6/9/05.
re: Just got a RUDE call from them....I got rude back though.
This number just called my house phone:
847-281-3020
It was a recording and then said if this was a live number to press zero. I figured it was some sort of phone spam so I pressed it go ask to be taken off the list.
This guy goes "Hello."
and the conversation as follows:
Me: Who is this?
Him: This is Alex, I need to speak with (name taken out to keep privacy) about an important business matter.
Me: Um, okay. She's not here right now. Can I ask what this is about and she can call you back.
Him: That's none of your business, it's an important business matter.
Me: EXCUSE ME? I answer MY phone from THIS number for an automated message for you to say "Hello." now you can tell me what it's about and I'll leave her a message or you can deal with it.
Him: EXCUSE YOU but I don't need the attitude. Who the hell are you. This is an important business matter...
Me: (I interrupt him) Listen asshole, you called my house. You can either tell me what it's about and leave a number or you can fuck off.
Him: Is there another number I can reach her at?
Me: No, this is her home phone and she'll be home in awhile. Do you WANT to leave a number about this so called important business matter?
Him: I'll call back later then.
Me: I'm sure you will mother fucker.
And then I hung up and checked the number. A friend linked me to this post, any info on what I can do about this? I'm jsut waiting for him to call back so I can go crazy.
re: Endless Phone Calls
I have been receiving "countless" phone calls daily with the caller ID stating " Unknown Caller". I have only picked it up one time and it was nothing but "Dead Air".
Going through my Caller ID List I have found a Company Name " Allied Interstate". Which you can look up to find it is a Scam Collection Agency. It has many lawsuits...etc.
I also checked another Repeat number which is 888-232-8991. I was able to do a reverse number inquiry and found it is not a legit number. It states from a IT site that it is available to purchase for your Business.
If you google Allied Interstate you may find some similar tactics of what I have read of every ones posts.
I dont understand with 100's of Gov sites/Attorney Generals involved suing this company why they are not shut down.
re: So, what's the final answer? 6/29/05
I have been getting these voice mails for several days now. I am so pissed. What is the final answer for stopping this? Allied? Arrow? What?
re: Answer
Ok, I found out why they were calling me. I actually do owe visa some money that was turned over to this collection agency. My fauly I admit. But I refuse to work with any debt collector. If this has happend to anybody else send them a cease communication letter and deal with the original creditor. The porblem is I haven't gotten anything in the mail from them. Do not give them a check over the phone. Only deal with them trhough certified mail. Once they recieve the cease communication letter they can no longer call you.
re: Any results
I have been receiving calls from the 847-281-3020 number as well. I will try the cease communication avenue and see if that works. The return # I have been getting on the message left is 800-793-5703, noticed no one else has listed that one. People that I am not in touch with (ex-spouse, ex-in laws, uncle I never see, etc..) have been contacted by peope who won't leave a name or phone number. Kind of rattles me a little. If anyone has actually had any positive results or if the "we won't call you anymore" line has actually stuck, please let me know. Thanks
re: answer again
They have really been harrassing my parents. Hope the letter works.
re: My two cents - July 12, 2005
Just to give people who find this continuing thread a few additional details to see if this sounds familiar to them for their edification.
I have been receiving calls from this number for over a year. I believe the calls come from Arrow Financial which claims it has purchased a debt from a now-defunct electronics store.
The original amount of purchase from the chain store was paid off in its entirety but they engaged in a bit of a scam whereby once you agreed to apply for the electronic store's own credit to purchase the items, what was hidden in the fine print was that once one single payment was a single day overdue, the entire amount of purchase was due and owing. Which they never said anything about although the bills from them looked odd. When I contacted the store and found out the problem (while the store's salesperson had SAID no payment or interest until a year from purchase, the fine print on the receipt contradicted the oral statement and said that although payment in full and interest weren't due, SOME money had to be sent every month which of course made my agreeing to take out their store card rather than using one of my own perfectly fine credit cards silly) I promptly paid the actual bill plus legitimate late fee.
Only AFTER this was paid off THEN they suddenly tell you that having been late on a single payment the entire amount became due and owing and you have actually accumulated serious interest, i.e. on a purchase of 1,000 WHICH WAS FULLY PAID, there is an outstanding interest balance of $500.
The original small print scam is the national chain electronic store's, but the continuation of this insanity is Arrow's. Whether they have actually purchased the debt (which does show on my Experian account) or not I don't know and don't know how to find out.
As to the incessant hangup calls, the best I can figure is that they let the automated system call and after the phone has been picked up twice - it hangs up as soon as it is picked up - they know someone is home and then an acutal person calls you.
PLEASE if someone sends a letter saying stop calling and they stop POST THIS.
ALSO if someone finds out/has proof or whatever that Arrow is pursuing them for a legitimate debt WHICH ARROW HAS NOT IN FACT PURCHASED AS A THIRD PARTY CREDITOR please post this information and what happened.
Does anyone have proof of a situation where they CLAIMED to have purchased a debt but had not, in fact, done so?
Thanks
Debra
re: Turn the tables?
I too am getting calls from this company - We have caller id so we never answered the phone (we figured it was a sales call) - after seeing this site and how everyone else is having the same problem I thought of what can be done about it - Not that I would advocate doing this or suggesting anyone to do this, buuuutttt it would be a real shame if when people were out and about and filled out those "can we contact you"cards, if this number was written in the phone area of the contact me form - All those companies would be calling this company for sales and such - Hmmm we shouldn't do that .. they would be bothered by calls from all sorts of companies
re: at least 1 call daily for the last 2 months
We have been getting daily message from these people for at least the last 2 months. Today I called and tried to get them to remove our phone number from the list. They had my husband's name right but we do not have any over due bills. The guy was very nasty. For years we have limited our credit and always paid on time. Of course the conservation didn't go well and there will probably be another message tomorrow. So the recommended course of action is to report these individuals to our state attorney general? Has anyone gotten anywhere with this?
re: received calls everyday for one week so far...
I've been receiving phone calls from this number for the past week. They leave a message say Hello, my name is Alex if your hearing this live stay on the line other wise call me back at 800-793-5703. I finally called this number back since we have received so many messages. They asked to speak to Eric. I told them there was no Eric that this number and they hung up on me. I called the number back to make sure that they would not be calling me any more. They were extremely rude and said that it is already marked down dead. So we'll see if we get any more of these calls.
re: Me too
I did the Google thing too to try to find out who the hell keeps calling my number. A couple times a day!! When I answer they don't say a word. Guess I should be grateful after reading some of the rude crap other people had to go thru. Glad this site came up, now I can freaking ignore them.
re: They keep calling me, but I have WAVE files of the message!
I am the poor unfortunate bastard who got the phone number of a deadbeat named Marc Nettleton, who has some websites like webraider.com, and webservicemedia.com, and automatrix.net, who left town apparently owing a lot of people money. I even had the sheriff call here looking for his wife Julie to deal with a bad check. Not only that, I get tons of calls from collection agencies because of him, so much that I pay for the privacy manager on the line to keep computers from getting through.
In the past couple of weeks, this same asswipe "Alex" keeps calling with his "voicemail" to discuss a very important business matter. What's odd about that? This time they are calling a phone number at my home that never belonged to Marc Nettleton. When I called them back, the lady is definitely looking for him, but claims she does not have either my number that used to be his, nor does she have the number that they are calling now in her system. She gives me a phone number listed on one of his WHOIS listings.
My number they are calling now is a line I don't ever actually answer. It isn't even plugged into a phone. It turns every voice message into a WAVE file and sends it to my email. I've got tons of these messages in the past couple of weeks. Thanks for helping me track them down with this page. I'm going to take that message from "Alex" and sample it and use it in my studio on something obnoxious, just like these bottom-feeders who keep calling, even though I tell them they have the wrong number.
re: Update
Just wanted to let you know that I just got a call from this company too... they evidently have a new toll free number and it is 888-334-4018. I called it back before I googled the number and it sounded like someone picked up and i could sort of hear voices, but it was mostly dead air space. Sounds like it's probably a telemarketing room of sorts and their phones generate numbers for them to call... but the phones also probably take calls in and answer automatically... so the person on the other end of the line was just waiting for the next call to go through and didn't know someone was already on there. Who knows... Hope my experience doesn't continue like some of yours have!
re: odd phone calls
i have been getting calls from various numbers. if i answer the phone there is no one there, just some 'dead air' sounds. not even a computer. i did a search for one of the numbers and came across this information and thought I would add my two cents. the other numbers are; 866-486-5433; 888-322-2785 and 866-515-3451.
re: Harrassing calls
This Arrid Financial has been calling my 85 years old mother two to five times per day from 847-281-3020 . They are looking for a John Nelson. I don't know how they came up with her number since she is Hispanic, does not speak English, and her number is listed under her own name which is neither Jonh or Nelson. Not even close to that. I just spoke to a Michelle at 800-279-0224 who said the number is going to be removed from their list. Let's see if that happens. Otherwise I will file a complaint with the FTC. I suggest everyone harrased by this collection agency to file complaints with the FTC and enclose this comments with the complaint. My 85 year old mother has to get up to answer their calls. Could you figure out what would happen if she fall while answering a lousy call that doesn't have anything to do with her.
re: I just contacted them via their web form
I moved to a new apt September 1st and got new phone service. They have been leaving me messages. When I call I can't even talk to anyone. I can only leave a message, it seems. Very strange! I don't want to leave a message, I don't even want to talk to them! They called me! Ugh. I was happy to find this page so I could contact them another way. I just sent an email via their web form:
https://secure.arrow-financial.com/html/contact/index.asp?src=customercare@arrow-financial.com%20
As you can see, the direct email address seems to be: customercare@arrow-financial.com
If the messages don't stop, I don't know what to do next.
Today is 10/5/2005
re: Illinois Calls too
I have been battling these people since July 18, 2005. The first time I answered to the recorded voice I called the number they left me. I asked what they wanted, first off they wanted my phone number. Hmmmm... You all just called and left me the message, does your caller ID not work??? So I gave it, they were looking for someone that was not me. I told them I was on the no call list take me off of theirs or I was going to contact the Attorney General of Kansas. They said ok no problem give them 24 hours. Not 2 hours later they called again. I didn't answer. Been getting them off and on now since first call. I finally had enough and called back again, guess what looking for a totally different person this time, BUT again wasn't me. ....
I have filed two complaints through our Attorney General, will let you all know how that goes....
The phone ID shows
Illinois Call
847-281-3020
Message has left two different numbers to call back...
866-235-0053 for Allied Interstate
888-334-4024 for Arrow Financial Serv.
Not sure if they have changed their name or two different companies using this service.
I have talked to a Chet, Alex and tonight Shenellolie ....
They were really nasty tonight, wanted my SS# last 4 digits and birthday to verify they could take me off the call list... NOT in my life time, how stupid can these people be I wonder.....LOL! so they hung up on me...
re: Been receiving these for months now
probably even longer, but yesterday topped the cake. They asked for me. I said this is she... so then they told me they had an unpaid credit card from walmart that i needed to take care of. I said, I have never had, nor applied for a card from wal-mart. They ask for the last 4 of my SSN. I told them I never give that information out over the phone and I just checked my credit reports on Wednesday and it wasn't on there, so please remove me from your list. So I hang up. They call back immediately. This continues on for about 15 minutes. As soon as I hang up they call right back, over and over. I threatened with charges, etc... I contacted my phone company and police department and district court to have a trace put on the line. I have blocked several of their numbers before, but you can only block so many and those are full. One of the times they called yesterday, they said "Yeah I know it's you. It's you. That's why you're acting like this. I know it's you." so I handed my father the phone. he had some choice words with them. Then later a lady called back and said that they would call everyday until the debt was paid. My name is very unusual so it was no mix up, so we called WalMart credit cards to see if someone had applied in my name, nope. They were very nice and said for us to try and get an account number from them and that no one had ever used my number, name or my husbands to even apply for a card. So the calling started again today. I would never return their calls, because you couldn't call their number back as it was a "special number" according to the recording. I wasn't going through the whole extension crap, as I knew I had no business in Illinois, so then I had decided to answer yesterday and probably only added to it. Before we would get calls from an Allied, on the caller id with a message to call them about an urgent business matter...and yesterday they were calling themselves, WGE or WCG,... something to that effect. Anyway, I hope we can all put an end to this soon.
re: 866-515-3451
I get 12-15 calls a week from 866-515-3451 just as mentioned by another post made here back in september. I have seen from other annoying call websites that this might be Discover Card Financial Services. I do indeed have a Discover Card but may have to cancel to keep from getting calls. This is how they loop hole arounf the no call list.
re: 1-866-486-5433
I have just gotten 7 calls in a row from this number in a matter of 15 minutes. I answered the first few....Got a machine.....quit answeering after that. I have no idea what company the calls are from , what they are about etc. How do I make this stop? This is not the first time they have called just the most calls in a short amount of time. HELP!! It is very annoying. Anything the phone company can do? Can I have the calls blocked?
re: 847-281-3020
They have been calling me too asking for "Benny Wilson" (amongst other names). Just this morning they called at 8am and finally out of frustration I GOOGLED both the number on my caller ID which was 847-896-2743(Libertyville, Il) as well as the return number they left on my voicemail- 847-281-3020. When they do leave a message there's always a "reference number". I wont call them back--seems from other complaints it just adds fuel to their fire.
If they call back and I answer however, I recommend just giving them another number to contact the person they are asking for, like say the police depts non-emergency number or better yet, any other local goverment official.
re: comment
Gotta love the internet...I too have been getting 3-5 calls per week from these jerks. I tracked it down via the phone number to Arrow Financial http://www.arrow-financial.com/ . So, I found the name of their Chief of Marketing from the web site and called back and left him a v-mail. Next will be to start calling back each of their management team and I might even resort to finding their home phone numbers.
re: 866-486-5433
I've gotten several calls in a row from this number and just wanted to add the info to this list. I have VerizonWireless service.
re: here's another
yep. just called me too. funny thing.. there is another company who has called me faithfully for the last 3 months around twice a day. I am going to try to give them each other's numbers.
re: lets get this guy and his family.

re: 8665153451
So glad for google! I have been getting hangups on my answering machine from this number for quite some time: often, several times per day. I do have a Discover Card, but through reading the above, it sounds like it may be another company. I'll check back here from time to time.
They had better not call my cell! At least the hangups to my home number are free.

re: 866-515-3451
Scam artist at work! Calls everyday, all hours of the day & night! These scammers should be put under a jail house somewhere forever!
re: Find out WHO the Illegal Debt Collection Scammers are!
There is an ever growing list of "PAY FOR HIRE" Lawyers and Debt Collections scammers popping up everywhere. The New York state Attorney General is hot on the heels of many and is actually trying to bring them to justice.
Here is a good site to check before even discussing your personal info with these scamming criminals.
*
http://www.budhibbs.com/coll_to_avoid_list.htm
*
Report the scammers to your state Attorney General and/or the practicing state Attorney General where they have set up their scam shop(s).
*
YOU DON'T HAVE TO TAKE ANY ABUSE FROM THESE PEOPLE AND BE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT SEND THEM ANY MONEY... the original debt will NEVER be paid by them NOR will your credit report reflect that you paid the debt off! The scammers simply take the money, your money, and run with it!
SO BEWARE!
*
If you can... RECORD THE CONVERSATION that you have with any of these debt collection scammers... it will help you in the long run.
*
AND... the burden of proof is in your favor. You have the right to ask them for copies of ALL documentation that is suppose to bare your signature with regards to any debt that they say you owe! That includes the original paperwork of opening any account, purchases related too and using the account, any letters of regarding the closing the account due to hardship, etc.
*
Have a good day!
re: 866-515-3451
If you happen to call them back you get a machine saying that it is discover card financial services calling about a product or service that they are offering. They then try to get you on with a "sales-rep"
re: re: 866-515-3451
Have had numerous calls from this number, I called it back and the recording said " we recently contacted you in regards to a product or service thru your Discover card, if you are interested please dial 1 and someone will assist you " I hung up and immediately called our Discover card service line in Utah. I told the person that answered the phone that we were getting solication calls from people saying that they were with Discover. I told her to REMOVE our name and phone number off that d** list, I also informed her that in no way, shape, form, or fashion did we give Discover the right to sell or distribute our number. She informed me that Discover had that "right" when we filled out the form, to distribute or sell our number. I said to her "Lady, Discover solicited us, and we didn't fill out ANY stickin application". She seemed to be quite rattled and shaken up, and started telling me that the calls would stop in 6-8 weeks. I told her that they better STOP, or else "the wrath of my husband and I will be on Discover, like stink on shit"..
I tried to block the above number with call blocker, and could not get call blocker to accept the number. I think I will start forwarding our phone number to the fax machine, and see how they like that. They are a bunch of blood sucking bottom dwellers, too bad they are not down here in Texas... or we'd get a rope and solve the invasion and harrasement "for sure" !!
re: They Strike Again...
It's amazing how these people work.
I just started receiving these calls about two days ago. I have a private cell phone number and don't give out my number to anyone except family!
However, this number 847-281-3020 has called me two or three times daily thus far. I answered the call the first time, said hello, and received a very staticky HELLO?. Since that call, whenever Arrow calls, it just sounds like the person is in a very bad area and I can't hear anything. When I try to call back, I receive a series of beeps and clicks.
Just wanted everyone to know that I, too, am on the bandwagon!!!
re: 8665153451
Even I am getting calls from this number and I think after I opened a account with discover I started getting calls from this number. Discover people are idi0ts , if I would have know about this before, I would have never opened an account with Discover.
I was getting similiar kind of call from amex "marketing" dept, and I asked them to optout my number. I will continue reading/visiting this page in future.
Thanks,
Nancy
re: Still At It
One of the reasons I recently got caller ID was because of these crazy messages I kept getting on my answering machine. "Beep. Please hold for the next available operator" etc. kind of messages. I had been screening to avoid them but my family and friends were getting irritated. So, now I keep getting IDs on this 847 number. Sometimes the messages are recorded, sometimes they are live. The live messages are always looking for people I don't know. Not always the same people either!!! Lisa, Robert, and an Indian sounding name I didn't quite catch. All at my number. Insanity. How do I make it stop????
re: Did I screw up?
I got a call from 847-281-3020 this afternoon. The woman said I had a Spiegel catalog bill. I told her I didn't. She then asked me my middle initial, address and the last four digits of my SSN to confirm that I wasn't the person they were looking for. Freaked out by the call, I actually gave her the information!!! After finding this site, I called the main number for Arrow listed on the Web site, and the operator told me that they were a collections agency, not phishing, and they did have my phone number in their database. But instead of asking me to give her my personal information, she read me off the address and last four SSN of the person they were looking for to confirm that it wasn't me. She said they would take me off their list. They can't do anything with my last four SSN, can they? Am I screwed?
re: comment
Capitol One screwed me and now i'm getting calls from this Arrow Financial 800-279-0244 or 800-793-5703. They are a collection agency.
re: Re: "Did I screw up?"
I would err on the side of caution and follow the steps proscribed by the FTC site regarding Identity Theft.
Scammers can spoof a phone number, so who knows who you actually gave your info to? If they were ID thiefs, they now certainly have enough personal info to make your life a living hell.
Good luck!
re: Robot Caller
Getting a robot caller asking for someone unknown to us to call 1-800-793-5703.
We call and get no answer at the other end - just a voice mail system.
I have about 10 messages so far.
I used this site to track down Arrow Financial and left a email with them asking to be premoved and digitally copied the screen as proof of message sent.
BTW our phone number is not in the 847 area code but it has 847 as the prefix. Maybe this is due to a transcription error in their robot's database.
re: 847-281-3020 calls
I got called last night. The guy (Adam Goldberg, he said) wanted somebody that wasn't me. I knew it was a wrong number, but I played the game and asked him to leave a message. He wanted my name... I gave a fake one.
He gave a call back # 888-362-5811 (ext. 449). He also gave some "account reference number".
When I asked what company he was with, he said Arrow Financial.
re: 866-486-5433 ----Harassment is Us!`
This is a company that makes billing calls for PAWC (Pennsyvania American Water Co.) and I suspect other companies as well.
They are relentless in calling, to the point of being harassing until you pick up their call. Sometimes I have picked up their call only to hear music.....darn automatic dialers.
I was LESS than 8 weeks delinquent. I had paid my balance 3/18/06 and my current balance was only $59.19. Far from the national debt, if you ask me. Apparently it is PAWC's policy to harass people as soon as you go over 2 weeks past due on your account.
The irony of this is that we own a rental property....and the tenant was contractually bound to pay the water bill. She didn't and has left us with a $3000.00 (yep, 3 thousand dollar) water bill that is now our responsibility as the property owner. Because she was protected by tenants rights, they wouldn't shut the water off....but allowed her to continue to rack up the bill. Different water company than we have at home.....and yet I get harassed over 60 bucks. UGH!!!! BTW....the tenant is now the EX-TENANT.
I hate people some days....this is one of those days!
re: 847-281-3020 calls
They have been calling my company cell phone off and on for the last couple of years (I never answer). I got another call last night and that is how I discovered this site.
I just resently pulled my credirt report and ARROW did show up as a bad debt that was not mine. I went through the process and had it removed. Thanks for all the info on here.
re: arrow only doing their job
I work for Arrow Financial, and the it seems the only people that get pissed is the people that owe bad debts. This site just provides them with yet another dillusional excuse not to pay thier debt. Yes, wrong numbers happen, and yes, I do call people who are the wrong people, but that happens and it is not earth shattering. Arrow helps even out things for decent working people who actually pay thier bills. My family cannot afford a nice car, or kewl T.V cause the mark up is so great because of deadbeats who do not pay for their darn T.V.
Grow up ya whiners........sheesh.
re: comment
sheesh......i have been reading some of these blogs and you people have no idea what we have to go thru to collect debt from people who are essentially thieves. We do not collect medical debt as that I can understand. You break an arm, you have no insurance, you have to go get fixed. But this is CREDIT CARD debt people. Self inflicted pain. These are SAKS FIFTH AVE accts where people go spend 5000.00 and then do not pay!!!! These are WAL MART accts that people enjoy the merchandise, but do not pay for it. So please, if this is a site for people looking for an excuse to not honorablly pay for their "stuff", then this site is a joke. "They keep calling my job!", they keep harrassin me". Ya know, if someone borrowed you 5000.00 to shop at a dept store, then they whined when you asked for the money back, you would not be happy. I talk to people like this everyday. Everyone wants to think the Bill Collector is a bad person, but we are not. I pay for the stuff I enjoy........ people agree to pay back the stuff they enjoy......and just don't. No matter how much you all want to bitch and moan....that just is not right. Get both sides people before you start congregating against doing the honorable thing. Stop looking for excuses and grow up.
As pissed as all of you seem at us, I am equally, if not more, disgusted with you.
re: got my first call today
they called me today and the story is the same as all that I have read.....if they continue I will just have my number changed....wont deal with this too long.....
re: for jim
if you keep hounding people on their jobs then they lose their jobs then they never pay their debt and then what good is all your trying to collect the debt in the first place....seems to me you arent thinking to clearly.....you dont take away someones source of income and then expect them to pay.....that is so ridiculous
re: pppaaaallleeezzzzz!
The reason debt collectors have to call job places is that after 50+ calls go unanswred at homes, they want to talk with the debtor. Most of the people who are posting here are debtors looking for excuses not to pay their bills....simple as that. It's always someone elses fault for all of your problems. Look in the mirror people.
re: Arrow Financial
I've been recieving a call from 847-281-3020 for the past few months numerous times a day. Finally got fed up and did some researching and found your website....whats strikes me as odd about the whole credit debt thing is....i dont have a credit card account in my name.....nor is my cell phone number in my name.......... So finally my girlfriend called last week and spoke to someone who "removed me from the list". well surprise surprise i got a call yesterday from them, so i called the headquarters today. After many failed attempts to get through i spoke to some lady and explained everything to her, and said i will sue yall if i get another call, she had a laugh and said fine then hung up. then i called one of their other companies and on the second ring spoke to a receptionist and left a message for a manager saying do not cal me at my number or i will sue you for harassment....hopefully second or third times a charm lol
re: For Jim at Arrow
You say you can't afford a nice car or TV? Sounds like you need to get a better job. As far as your phone calls go, when I answer and get a recording and not a real person on the other end I hang up. That goes for anyone. Like I said in a past comment, the debt you people keep calling me about was not mine and had it cleared from my credit reports. But does that keep you idiots from calling? NO!
re: comment
Hey Tony....once collectors verify that you are not the debtor, they do not want to waste their time calling the wrong person. So, if you verify you are the wrong person then no troubles. 9 out of 10 are the right person trying to get out of paying for stuff they bought at any numerous dept stores, or pay for the stuff they charged on that credit card. Yes, there are rude collectors .....but their are rude people in all walks or life. Cops, waitress's, Bankers, ........... that does not give dead beats the right to not pay. Not all collectors are bad people. they are disliked because they are stating facts that "consumer thieves" do not like to hear such as "You spent 2000.00 at Wal Mart Sir/Mam. And your intentions of paying for the stuff are?........." Lets not use a few bad apples as an excuse not to pay your debts. Wrong numbers happen, but put just as much blame on the people who "Steal" from honest business'sas you are to the few bad collectors. Lets be fair here people!!!!
re: comment
One more thing people.........................lets not believe everyone who is posting either. Some of these things are just not the truth. Misery loves company.....It's human nature. There are as many liars on this site as there are honest.
re: And one last thing for Tony
Hey dude...............if ya owe money like I believe that you do, just cause a recording is calling you does not mean you do not have to pay for your stuff man....remember that. That is just an excuse not to pay. Oh, and Tony? I make more than enough to pay my bills.........how bout you? And if you do...... do you do the honorable thing and pay them. I do not know, and I am speculating here......but I am guesiing you are getting some calls for a reason LOL
re: I agree with Steve
Hey Steve, I am with you. I am a small business owner, and "Deadbeats", as you so rightfully reffer to them as, have caused me to raise prices and hurt honest consumers. People think that they can steal from us because we are these big corporations making tons of money. People are so ignorant. I get a kick out of the ansering machines our company calls that say at the end...."Have a blessed day", and they owe my company 4000.00 for electronics they brought home 6 years ago. I am behind you and people like "Arrow" a hundred percent. You and they are providing a positive service to all us honest hard working people. Someone has to speak for us as well....................Thank you for doing so. For the rest of you................Grow, get the facts, and pay for the stuff you are enjoying people. I have children to feed as well.
