so i'm going to try to do my last weekend justice. it was far and away the most fun i've had in a full weekend in a long, long time. it was just amazing.
so thursday night i drove up to manchester around 11 to get chad. i got in a couple of games of madden online, then when chad's flight was delayed i got in a couple more. then i drove up there on 93. playing all this madden contributed to me not eating dinner, so when i saw a sign for wendy's at the andover exit (yea, andover) i couldn't resist going for it. i went 10 minutes to the left, then turned around, and went back to the 93 onramp. fuck it, i said, onward 10 minutes in the other direction. yeah, not there either. assholes.
went up and finally got chad. we talked on the way home, and stopped at a shitty shitty 24 hour mcdonalds because i needed food. more talking, then we finally got home (around 1:15) and i got my ass in bed around 1:30.
woke up the next day and put in my contacts (among other normal, start of the day things) and went to work. little did i know that my contacts were going to stay in my eyes until 11:30 on sunday night.
once i got back from work (around 6) i called up nitin and we planned on meeting for dinner. we were going to walk to the t, but it started pouring, like sheets of rain (leftovers of a certain hurricane i guess). we waited for a bit, and nitin told me that his car was being serviced and we could drive down, since that would be faster, and i could park in his spot underneath his building. once the rain died down a bit, we got in the car and got going.
at some point during friday it was made clear to me that andrew was going to be coming in this weekend. anyways, nitin called us and told us that andrew was already getting sushi, so we should make plans for dinner with him and not plan on going out anywhere. once we got downtown, the three of us went and ordered food at a pizza/wings place on newbury street. they were taking a bit to make the food, so we went back to nitin's, where nitin talked me into driving him to pick up two of his work friends and talked chad into going back to the pizza place and waiting for the food.
so i visited beacon hill for the first time and picked up this kid jason, who i've hung out with a couple of times before. then we picked up some girl (i can't spell her name) from kendall, and she brought her roommate. they were both dressed up and ready to go out. it was surprising and annoying, especially when she wouldn't walk down 3 houses to where my car was and wouldn't realize that i saw her and she didn't have to keep asking over the phone if i fucking saw her. she annoyed me.
anyways, we finally get back to nitin's and food and andrew are awaiting us. we dig in to the food, and andrew talks about some money making scheme. i'm not going to get into it here, because it might be not so legal, but it was interesting conversation and it showed me that i missed this dynamic, the high school guy dynamic that we had and still have.
anyways, after we ate we started up a game of poker. there were 8 people, $10 each - nitin and i ended up splitting the pot. this only happened after 3 hours of playing and after everyone other than nitin, me, andrew, and chad had decided not to go out. oh well!
we decided to go out at like 11:30, just up and down boylston. andrew said we should try and drink real fast with the free alcohol so that we wouldn't have to pay as much out. now, there are two factors here - poorly constructed logic that made him think this would be cheaper, and a complete distaste for being slightly drunk but not hammered. i'll address both here since they came up over the weekend.
i've always been pretty opposed to drinking. but it has always seemed to me, and especially since i _started_ drinking, that the entire point was to get drunk. social drinking is a joke - you have a beer, you get a little light headed and you become funnier? maybe you do, because you're uptight to begin with, but one beer does nothing for me. i'd rather be trashed out of my gourd than someone who drank a beer or wine with dinner every other night.
however, when one is drunk, they are not going to fully comprehend how much money they spend out at bars. and they will be drinking a crapload more if they are hammered when they go out versus if they aren't and they just drink out and let money limit their drinking. or at least, this is a reasonable counterargument to the entire "its cheaper to drink here where the liquor is free" argument. whatever, the truth is somewhere in the middle.
we all got really trashed and then hit out the bars. first place was called lier or something, it was right next to the pour house on boylston. went in, one beer, talked for a bit, and took off. nothing really going on, and barhopping was definitely the goal of the night.
next bar was that crazy irish pub underneath the lenox. it's called gola's or something. the place was pretty empty. we went upstairs, where it was very very empty, and nitin bought us a round of irish car bombs to have in the irish pub. andrew finished it first but he spilled a quarter of it on the table. i will not argue about this, he's a cheater.
anyways, did a loop, nothing fun, so we left. these guys were pretty drunk by this point, i think chad and i were fairly close to sober and nitin and andrew were just ridiculously drunk. like, wandering around near the bpl and yelling at each other and being nuts. they even asked some random people where there was a happening scene. unfortunately, they asked some czech students who were into clubbing and told us to go to some club and get our dance on. anyways, given that nitin and andrew were toasted, i found a bar nearby to take them in to. this place was called city bar, it was on the side of the lenox (as opposed to on the front, if you've seen this hotel you know what i'm talking about) and it sucked ass. we walked in, looked at each other, and walked out.
i decided that we should try daisy buchanan's at this point. so this meant walking back up boylston, turning right on gloucester, and walking all the way back down newbury until we found it. however, once we got there, i decided to cheese it, just based on the crowd milling around outside. we went back up to boylston, and we happened to be right next to whiskey's. so we went in, why not?
stood at the front for a while, nothing really happened. then we did a loop. again, nothing. the calls for chad to start hitting on girls (which were existent throughout the night) were growing louder and louder. nitin and i went and sat in the corner and talked - nitin swore a lot and told me elscorcho sucked. i look up, away from him, and see andrew and chad talking to girls. i laugh. nitin sees it. he tells me elscorcho sucks. before i know it its last call.
when the lights raise, i see that chad is still talking to the girl, but andrew and nitin are back at their antics, yelling at each other and being bad. we make our way outside, but right before we go, i tap the girl chad is talking to on the shoulder and say "it's time to make a decision", and walk out.
yeah, that's right.
so we mill around outside the bar, just sorta looking around and being idiots. chad comes out and makes a face at me for being dumb, then he sees a girl over on the curb and decides to sit next to her and talk. he's doing that for a while, and nitin and andrew and i realize that we don't have to stand around and wait, chad knows where nitin lives. right?
just in case, i tell chad nitin's phone number. loudly. so the girl can hear. and i say "we're going, talk to you later". the girl leaves chad immediately. chad yells at me. andrew says something about the short girl and how she was cuter. we're not really sure what the hell he means.
we get home. andrew pukes all over the toilet and the rug near the toilet. i pass out on the couch. chad passes out on the floor. the night is a definite success. however, no one saw saturday night, the night we actually planned on going out hard, no one saw it coming. and it turned out to be (definitely) funnier, (definitely) stranger, and (possibly) funner. just consider this the build up. i even foreshadowed a little in there!
what an amazing weekend (part 1 of 3)

re: filling in the holes
Missing parts of the story: my contacts also stayed in from friday until sunday.
while nitin and niv worked, i walked boston (from downtown to harvard) and drew skipped out of his classes and took a train to boston.
andrew did spill a lot and he is a cheater. these things aren't necessarily related, but they are both undoubtedly true.
city bar made niv take his hat off. i also got the dirtiest look of the night when i told the bouncer i could vouch for the girl in front of me, cause she couldn't find her ID. the look came from the bouncer, not the girl. the girl ignored me completely.
i didn't just sit down next to the girl on the curb. she and her friend were standing, talking to drew and said something about going to providence. so i (being the witty character I am) said, "like god shamgod?" which is a perfectly legitimate question. andrew quite astutely chimed in "and austin croshere?" brilliant. then the girls friends told them they had to leave so we said our goodbyes, but then they ended up not leaving, and the girls we were talking to sat on the curb while their friends argued over where to go. that's when i sat down. this girl also told me that she was "pouring her heart out to me." just moments after this and equal moments before i asked for her number, niv made his crazy attempt to leave me and scared the (very very cute) girl away.
andrew puked twice.
i didnt pass out on the floor. i laid down on the floor and listened to niv make noises that are related somehow to snoring but are noises that no person should be capable of making. i was scared.
