run dmc is far from the most influential rap band of all time. i'm pretty sure i'm on solid ground with this one. it only takes 3 letters, 'd', 'r', and 'e' to understand why run-dmc was more of a precursor than the real deal (pixies to dre's nirvana).
geoff is insistent that comfortably numb isn't good. maybe he's right. i really don't like pink floyd. honestly.
album/song of the year in my next post. since thats the only pop culture i pay attention to.

re: ...duh
that they are self-indulgent.
but that labeling them as such as criticism is a little redundant. since every other band, famous or otherwise, is self-indulgent as well.
re: no...
it means in my mind they are so fucking self-indulgent that i find it necessary to go out of my way to talk about it and even criticize them about it.
re: well
such is your perogative. even if you're wrong.
ps - i dig the new portal.
re: this is a stupid discussion
never said they weren't.
all bands are overrated within certain circles.
see: weezer; you.
re: you started it
you should go back and read what you said and explain to me exactly what the point of that comment was, then. mr smarty pants.
p.s. listen to that shit i sent you
re: as heads is tails just call me lucifer
i was merely pointing out that since all art is self-indulgent and overrated, singling one particular artist out as particularly so is contingent purely on individual perception. therefore, a discussion on such a topic is, well, stupid. as our ensuing back and forth proved.
i was bored.
and bothering you gives me jollies.
ps-i'll listen to that stuff tonight. looking forward to it.
re: yes?
Did some one say my name? I have a gambit? What? I'm confused.
Any band that creates an album whose tracks synchronize with "The Wizard of Oz" I classify as more self indulgent than most bands.
And yes, that is my individual perception.
ps - Fine, but you're wrong.

re: music:self-indulgence::living:breathing
music in particular, and art in general, is all about putting the deepest parts of you on display for the public. the display of any art is in its very nature the most self-indulgent and narcissistic excersize there is. no band that any of us have ever heard, isn't self-indulgent.
