work is going to eat my soul

weekend at the fairmont copley = awesome. i'll get into it in a second. but now, work-related crap

i'm taking over releases. what this means is more weekends working at 4am, and now i even get to work weekdays at 6am too from time to time. like, for example, tomorrow. and next thursday. yeah. and i have a weekend release in mid-march coming up too. that'll be the big one. nice.

on the plus side, i got a company cell phone and monster is now paying for my internet. on the minus side (and i think the minuses are far outweighing the pluses) i am going to be put on call pretty soon. the on-call rotation. awesome.

i don't think i'm going to get a substantial pay raise in march (when raises are given and whatnot around here). my hours and responsibility have gone up.

rarr!!!

now is that time to put in the effort and stuff so it isn't all bad. i know the experience and whatnot will be worth it. it's just quite a shift from doing nothing for the last 22 years of my life.

anyways... the weekend was good. stayed at that fairmont copley, which is linked to right below so i won't link again. but i will link to this: link. we stayed in one of those rooms.

they had business cards printed up for me, saying that i would be staying there for two days, with the phone number to the room and stuff. i took pictures. you'll see. it was ridiculous.

it goes on though. the entire 4th floor was reserved for this gold floor dealy. as soon as we got up there, the lady on the special 4th floor front desk gave us a tour. lounge, library (with dvds and cds to check out if you so desire), breakfast/eating area... and the honor bar/kitchen. free h'ors d'oeuvres. honor bar. god. who the hell has an honor bar? what's an honor bar? well, you make your drink from the plentiful alcohol on the table in front of you. then you write down what you made on a piece of paper and get charged for it to your room. yeah, it's a hell of a system. especially when they have like 5 kinds of scotch, some of which should cost considerably more than $8 a glass.

anyways, it was a pretty fun weekend. got to go shopping, ate out in the north end for once, and hung out with jen a lot.

i scored two purchases during this weekend. first off, a nick shirt. yes, a nick salvado shirt. orange, but somewhat muted, but still orange. button down, long-sleeved. from express.

clearly this was bought because girl was with me and showed lots of approval. and i like orange.

moving on, i also scored a belkin fm transmitter. this bad boy took me a bit for me to get going this morning, but its nifty enough. basically it plugs in to my mp3 player. i tell it (the transmitter) what frequency is available in my area (103.7 works decently, but i might fiddle around and find me another one). i hit play on my mp3 player, and voila - portable radio station. i wonder what kind of range i get on this thing. hehe. yeah so then i just tune in 103.7 on my car radio and i get mp3s in FM quality. which is fine, considering i don't have any way of getting super-high-quality (and it sounded decent anyways).

it's a neat device, and it inspired me to make a playlist for the way in to work. i think i might try to change it weekly, maybe more often. if there's any interest (?) i'll start posting playlists here. they tend to be long-ish, cuz the drive is 1 hour each way. the way i think of it is as the best radio station ever. hehe.

just to give you a flavor, i started off with "more than a feeling" by boston, and moved on to "frail and bedazzled" by the smashing pumpkins, followed by "jesus of suburbia" by green day. i haven't gotten to em yet, but kanye and dj dangermouse to make appearances on the mix, so its not all rock. just mostly.

geoff comes in on friday. i'm pretty pumped, though i really didn't realize it was this soon. it's gonna be a fun time. of this i am certain.

it's about time you got a good Nick Salvado orange shirt. Every man should have at least one in his closet.
