so many random thoughts

my army is mobilizing. excellent.

happy pitchers and catchers!

is it wrong that i call two of my coworkers saltine and triscuit cuz they are a couple of crackers? i didn't think so.

i've got two playlists on my mp3 player now. one sorta sucked. i learned from my mistakes but still made a few on my second one. the rule i need to adhere to is the 'one song per band' rule. it is a very very good rule and i suggest any of you out there who want to take your mixes to the next level follow this rule religiously.

hehe

so chad voiced an interest in seeing these playlists. and no one said it would be stupid, though i'm sure someone thought it. i was pretty close to posting em anyways, so here goes.

1. boston - more than a feeling
2. smashing pumpkins - frail and bedazzled
3. green day - jesus of suburbia
4. godsmack - voices
5. modest mouse - gravity rides everything
6. matthew good - in a world called catastrophe
7. dj danger mouse - change clothes
8. led zeppelin - gallows pole
9. air - alpha beta gaga
10. radiohead - let down
11. the strokes - hard to explain
12. green day - she
13. marcy playground - paper dolls
14. matthew good - song for the girl
15. the smashing pumpkins - muzzle
----

so the mistakes first: i didn't choose a very good zeppelin song. i found myself wanting more rap after the dj danger mouse track and not having any more. i put entirely too many songs that aren't good driving songs, i.e. tracks 4, 5, 14 for starters. i just made a crucial mistake and didn't make the mix FOR driving.

i was pretty happy with some of the transitions though. air->radiohead->strokes = incredible. and 'in a world called catastrophe' was one of the better pulls by me, i thought.

kind of annoying that i messed up the zeppelin song though.

a lot longer, which was good. one carry over (green day - she). you'll notice i had a bit of a hard-on for the white pony cd. i made the same mistake on track 21 that i made on the last cd - too quiet, not good driving music. and this mix really made me realize the whole 'one song per band rule' has some merits. overall a better mix, but i can do better. the one major problem - after listening to the first kweli song (one of my favorite ones on the actual cd) i wanted to listen to the whole tk cd ... and i got chemical brothers. it took me a minute to accept it.

that's it. thoughts?

the one song per band rule is a stroke of genius. most of the lists i've made that have been dissapointments are heavily weighted in one band or another. never would have thought of that as the reason though.

the lists are pretty good. you can do better though for sure. the length of the second one is its strong point. epic playlists are nice.
