loveless

i have been driving the same commute since i moved back in september. today is the first day i realized that my commute would be a sweet course for a video game. granted, its on the longer side (45 minutes) but there are a few different stretches that are fun to drive, especially when the cars in front of me feel like driving 40+ mph (not as often as i'd like, for sure) or if there are no cars in front of me. i'm not a wild driver or anything, but i like to have some fun with the commute. and yeah, its a pretty fun commute. can't believe i just now realized all this.

so i didn't think it was true, but apparently i have not yet discussed my bloody valentine on this site. i don't know how that is possible, but i used the little search thing on the right and i couldn't find shit. i just listened to this cd, and i want to talk about it. so here goes:

i'm amazed this cd came out in 1991. it seems so much more modern. it's hard to talk about this cd without rambling; i think that is inherent to the nature of the cd. the album is basically an experiment in noise guitar, one which is pulled off amazingly well. so imagine 11 rock songs with two somewhat droning guitars and a very slow pace. then throw in a few quick riffs here and there, amazingly light ones to contrast the entire set up of the songs up to this point. do the same thing with lyrics, so that they perfectly compliment the guitar. now add 7 layers of subtle white noise that just entirely engulfs what you have created up to this point. the white noise makes you feel like you are in the ocean, or you are in space - somewhere completely engulfed by it, but the music is inside of you and the music is amazing and it is heightened and strengthened by the layers upon layers of noise surrounding you. and every once in a while, just fucking perfectly timed, a riff comes through just completely clear and you smile and you feel at peace.

that is my bloody valentine's loveless.
