not so much a bad person i guess

so i guess the last post wasn't being about bad. and i got nice responses across the board, as you can see, so you can expect ads to show up in random places at some point soon. i'm thinking on www.elscorcho.org at the bottom, over on the sidebar below the random photos, and somewhere on the gallery page, just not sure where.

the other question i have is regarding the gallery, in fact. or at least the content of the gallery, the photos. i've been pretty hesitant to run any of the photos through photoshop. i wonder at what point it stops being a photo i took and starts being a piece of art. i'm actually even hesitant to cropping photos, let alone doing any kind of color levels manipulation or anything like that. however, this is mostly in my mind because i don't want to feel like i'm misleading anyone, not because i have moral objections to it.

this is the question - does anyone still have an interest in seeing photoshop-manipulated photos in the gallery, side by side with untouched photos? should i at least provide a point of reference? i guess, this just came to me, i guess i could make a photoshop section in the gallery. is that a good solution?

what do you guys think?

i think this is pertinent.

if you feel the need, artistically speaking, to mess around with your photos, then do it. and by all means display them here because this is your forum for all that kind of stuff.

art is in the eye of the artist, while its interpretation is in the eye of the beholder. you decide which photos are photos and which ones are art. you decide which ones stand alone as art and which ones you want to turn into art with photo shop.

in short its up to you.

you are the artist.

i think the photoshop gallery is a great idea too.

I think that you should photo shop away, if you choose. if its little stuff, like brightening colors, cropping photos, etc, just do it. bigger stuff, like putting your head on a dinosaurs body, or something, i think we will get as photoshopped...and anything in between, where you are fundamentally changing the nature of the picture in a way that could be real (putting you in a photo with me and geoff when you werent really at the event where teh picture was taken, for example)...well thats your call. you could put a note saying "i wasnt really there" or you could not...photo is art, art is photo...you are already capturing an image on film, it isnt the true image, so you, as the artist, have only to answer to yourself.
