well, i've gone and done it. i added ads to elscorcho. this is where they can be found now:
1a) between the latest post and the rest of the posts on the front page
2b) between a post and its comments
3c) below photos on the right sidebar
that's it for now. i'm planning on adding photos to the gallery at some point, but i'm not there yet. so basically, these ads pay me whenever you click on them. i don't expect it to happen often, but if you guys feel up for it, click away. won't ask again. on a more cosmetic note, i have not set up my ads script to serve multiple colors. right now all the ads are in the black/gray/white motif from google. my goal is to make the ad colors dependent on the theme you are using. in short, if you are using blorange, ads will stick out less once i figure out how to do that.
now i just need to peddle those tshirts more... buy a shirt!
i dunno, it doesn't come natural to me.
i just saw this over on the right and i can't help but think that i'm glad that i added that photos widget. also sometimes the photos i take don't suck ass. i'm going to take the next step and start messing around with photoshop tweaks of my photos soon. i also have a slew of photos on my camera currently that should be dumped online - this is a note to take care of that.
i had a release today, so i was at work a little before 7am. i have to work this weekend too, so i'm still at work - i plan on leaving around 3, the guy who is working second already is here. the release went as smooth as one could hope. good stuff. unfortunately the fishbowl is being painted today, and while the bright colors should be really useful from day to day (usually the lights are almost completely out and its really dark in here), sitting under the bright flourescent lights and breathing in paint fumes is not my ideal way to spend a saturday. i guess i gotta do my time, but this kinda sucks.
next weekend i'm going to kc. i'm excited. nfl draft weekend and hanging out in the paris of the midwest with my best friend - you really can't beat that combination. just thinkin about it now and getting excited. don't worry, i'll post between now and then.
i just had an idea of a schedule for posts. just came to me, cuz i was winding this post down and now this feels tacked on. whatever, i ain't posting it on sunday so here goes.
things i like to or would like to write about: ranting, politics, music, video games, photos. that's 5 topics. and there are 5 days in a week. thoughts?

what if we replaced "video games" with technology
and photos would be noto writing about photos, but posting a particular photo
ball's in your court

They're nice and small. If the colors changed with the theme they'd be 10x more tolerable. You would't really notice them.
Another option would be to put one down at the bottom of the page under the copyright/rss/xhtml links.

re: i am last year's model
i think you pulled off the ads as best you could. in stoic they fit great. i imagine in the other themes they are a little intrusive, but i'm way to faded to check right now. as far as placement though, you did a real good job.
the schedule sounds like a great idea because it promises more posts than usual, at a generally swift pace. if you tried too hard to stick to it though you might find yourself struggling to make something quality.
could you really write about video games and photos once a week?
but i really like the idea of posting every weekday. and i think you are fully capable of it even if you didn't touch on all five topics each week.
