1) a day in the life (the beatles - sgt pepper)
whats your top 5?
comments
re: god
true revolutionaries is from smartie mine
not that anyone would call me on that ever
i would have remembered that if i didnt lose all my dan bern cds and only have everything on mp3 now
re: dance monkey, dance
FINE
niv's list rules
and that's why i didn't submit my own
if i HAD to make a list
under some sort of forceful persuasion
it would be this
keeping in mind this list is ranked in regards to how well the song closed the album and not my opinion on the overall awesomness of the song.....that would be a different list all together
1) all apologies
2) only in dreams - weezer blue ablum
3) flamenco sketches - miles davis kind of blue
4) hurt
5) like suicide
re: led zeppelin f'n rocks
i was listening to houses of the holy on the way in to work. you know what it ends with? "the ocean"
zeppelin knows how to end a record, that's for sure.
re: the rolling stones suck
is there any rolling stones album that ends strongly? name one, you defenders of the stones.
i can name at least 3 strong beatles closers - "a day in the life," "all you need is love," "her majesty." and yeah, i'll throw "tomorrow never knows" in there too.
and i've already named two zeppelin closers that are incredible.
what did the stones ever do? someone, please, tell me.
god the stones are such hacks.
re: more bands that should be considered
the last song on who's next is "we won't get fooled again"
that album is probably one of my top 10 albums of all time
so
it should be considered
nobody else cares about music :(
re: comment
we all know what i think about 'we wont get fooled again'
if i actually owned a who album as opposed to just a bunch of random mp3s, i would have listed that as #1
this seems to becoming somewhat of a theme for me
damn you, electronic age!
re: watch your mouth
i have a bunch of random mp3s
collected into albums
just accept the technology
that way it'll hurt less when the computers take over
re: nitin (via email)
just read elscorcho for the first time in a while
day in the life is a great pick...
her majesty isn't that good....all you need is love from magical mystery tour is better
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon - Eclipse MUST be on the list
pink floyd - wish you were here - Shine on you crazy diamond (ii) COULD make the list
rolling stones - beggar's banquet - salt of the earth is really good
...
ok. this is the hardest game i've ever tried playing
re: her majesty
"her majesty" is the last track on the last studio album released by the greatest band of all time. in that context, it's pretty f'n cool.
re: pearl jam
it's been a while. hope everyone is doing well! i'm bored at work and have an opinion. my favorite last track on an album is release from pearl jam's ten. it's a great song, and a great end to an amazing album. however, i think that a day in the life is probably the best last song to an album.
re: the doors
just chiming in, the doors knew how to end their albums.
i think for my top 5, definatly on the list would be
riders on the storm - the doors la woman
re: i like...
champagne supernova from (what's the story) morning glory. i dunno about top 5, but i really like that album and it's a pretty good closer.

re: it comes down to this
id think people would be commenting up a storm
alas, its up to me to get the ball rollin
1) would? -- aic s/t
2) all apologies -- nirvana in utero (due to overall hauntingness, not just song quality)
3) hurt -- nin downward spiral
4) a day in the life -- beatles sgt pep (wouldnt have thought of this without niv!)
5) true revolutionaries -- dan bern 50 eggs
i had voodoo child as #5, but decided that its probably not right to have a track from an album that youve never listened to all the way through on there
