chad wrote a little article about mlb awards that is worth a read. it's nice to have chad's ire in a place where we can all keep tabs on it, isn't it?

i gave myself a little pep talk last night and hit the $25-NL party poker tables for a little while. i wasn't doing so well, and then a fateful hand occured. i was in a hand because of the BB but i had flopped top pair with a middle kicker. not the strongest hand. due to position, i was forced to lead out the betting after the flop, and the guy just to my left called me. we checked the turn and i checked the river as i had no faith in my weak kicker. then the guy to my left bet something exorbitant, i folded, and he showed me bottom pair. BOTTOM PAIR. like a pair of 3s against my pair of queens. he was so proud of his idiot bluff that he showed me his cards.

i then proceeded to take $45 from him in about 10 minutes. like a true idiot, he didn't use his table image (raising with low pair = loose player image) to his advantage. he continued to raise with low pairs and crappy hands, hoping that scare cards on the board would make his opponents fold. well, i got two pair a couple of times against him, and i nailed him on a bluff attempt, effectively chasing him from the table. i went on to win another $25 off other idiots, and i realized what my biggest weakness had been on these tables all along. i had been too busy playing cute.

if you play straightforward poker on these tables on partypoker, you will win money. it is impossible not to. everyone else is just too bad. maybe i'll win enough money to the point where i can move up and play against real poker players. right now, however, no one i play against in these ring games seem to remember what happened 3 hands earlier - they are all too busy trying to work off their first deposit 20% bonus.

anyways, it was a good revelation and the poker was a nice way to end out the day. unfortunately i forgot to watch the freakin' office because i'm an idiot. also, i'm up to 4 new shows that i watch regularly, effectively doubling my number from last year - i'm going to try to stick with the daily show (always good, never remember to watch) and the colbert report, which is on right after and has its 3rd episode tonight, is amazing. add that to AD (on break until halloween) on monday nights and the office on tuesdays and sports. and of course seinfeld reruns. across the board, pretty high quality stuff i think.
