slightly overdue, but my heart's in the right place

1152-april14-2006
well i'm headed out of work for the weekend in 18 minutes, so i might as well pound out this post that i've had in my head for a week or so. of course, as is a goddamn trend around here, i forgot half the shit i wanted to pontificate on, so you're left with nothing more than tiny pieces of news about niv that is really not important to anyone other than niv.

wednesday was the second anniversary. a lot of times words do a better job of explaining reality than reality on its face does. i'm not a good enough writer to make that true about jen and myself. thus, i don't write about her a lot. i can't do that whole aspect of my life justice, as cheesy as that sounds. one day i'll grow a pair and actually try to, but for now just know that things with jen could not be better.

like i said, 18 minutes from the weekend. 15 minutes now. i'm headed to cleveland this weekend, after dropping aforementioned girlfriend off at her home in rochester. i should get there somewhere between 10pm and midnight tonight. a wide range that is entirely dependent on the presence of new york super troopers. i haven't been to cleveland since... this travesty (note: the comments in that entry are fun), so i'm making a triumphant return. geoff, chad, trilling, aaron, and countless others will be around. i plan on taking pictures and then FINALLY POSTING ALL OF THEM INCLUDING THE THREE VEGAS PHOTOS when i return. probably while i'm doing laundry monday night. my life is fucking scripted.

13 minutes to departure.

now you know that it took me longer to write the paragraph on jen than it did to write that longer paragraph on cleveland. i spelled it out for you, chad. see the beauty of what i do? one day i'll get good enough that i don't have to spell it out.

12 minutes.

i went to the red sox game last night with jen and one of her coworkers and coworker's brother. we saw ted lilly sneakily absolutely dominate the red sox. 10 ks, 6 hits, 1 run in 7 innings. then the red sox blew up FORMER INDIANS PROSPECT brian tallet (and jason frasor, who just sucks) and bj ryan had to come in and get david ortiz to fly out in a somewhat dramatic way. it was a fun game. i got to keep score, which i think i need to try doing during an indians game that i watch on tv sometime. it seems very possible, but i'm not sure how i feel about keeping score of a game that i'm not at.

11 minutes!

the indians are widely considered #1 in power rankings (sportsline, baseball prospectus, espn, cnn, etc). of course, this is quite meaningless 2 weeks in to the season. also, the mets will probably move up to #1 after how thoroughly they dismantled the hapless nationals, and also how thoroughly the mariners dismantled the indians' bullpen. issues back there need to get resolved, cuz that pen should be as good as last year's pen, and last year's pen was freakin amazing.

ok i'm going to pack up the cats and head on out of here. expect a nice post about cleveland on monday, maybe not up to DC standards, but still quite good. or i'll get angry. we'll see. i'm looking forward to this weekend.

9 minutes.

thanks for indulging me.
