jen and i saw dredg on saturday.
i took a few pictures.
ours opened, and they were pretty boring. i remember them as being more hyperactive, which i repeatedly said to jen. she gave me the ole "maybe you were thinking about some other band (you idiot)", which i denied, but maybe i was thinking about muse the whole time. who knows. they just weren't that good, but, shit, they got off the stage fast and dredg didn't leave anyone waiting at all.
we showed up late... maybe close to 8:15. ours was off the stage within 30 minutes, and dredg was on the stage about 20 minutes later. they played a tight 40-45 minute set, with few pauses and little banter. other than the generic "goddamn that show was sweet, they sounded real good" stuff, here are things i noticed.
1a) the lead singer of dredg was wearing a track jacket
2b) the lead singer of dredg has an incredibly nerdy habit of yelling "thanks!" abruptly immediately after the last note of every song. a real nervous yelp, as if he doesn't want anyone to realize that he's a giant nerd by talking for more than 3 seconds.
3c) related to 2b... when you see a band that you've been listening to for 5 years and never seen live, its really unnerving and somewhat amazing to realize that the sounds that you've been hearing are actually produced by people. it makes everything seem very fucking possible, is what it does.
so now things are possible
so now what?
thanks for indulging me.

at avalon! we sat up in the balcony. show wasn't even sold out, so there was a decent amount of room.
