i got in the car this morning to go to work. usually the radio is set to FNX or my auxiliary input, but i guess i was listening to bcn yesterday, so it was on bcn. normally, opie and anthony would be on and i'd be changing the station as fast as possible. instead, pearl jam - dissident.
nice.
bcn moved on to a dumb song and FNX was playing a sting song that wasn't doing it for me on this beautiful friday morning, so i started flipping through the stations and deciding what i'd play on my ipod... when i hit zlx and boston - more than a feeling.
double nice.
(let me go ahead and say i genuinely like 'more than a feeling' - hate me if you want, but it isn't never has been about "ha ha this is a silly 80s song, what tight pants, etc," but only for this particular song)
zlx, like most classic rock stations, only plays 2+ good songs in a row when they "let the led out" so i went back down one station preset to bcn. usually i'd skip on by to FNX (it was after 9am and i generally avoid BBC's newshour on NPR, but normally i'd be listening to NPR and this whole post would be moot) but the killer's mr brightside was on, quickly followed by foo fighters - monkey wrench, quickly followed by spacehog - in the meantime.
i was almost to work by this point (hooray no traffic!) and bcn was going to commercial, so i flipped down to fnx quickly, knowing that something good would be on.
nirvana's 'man who sold the world' was just getting started.
radio did its job with aplomb today.
the title of this post has nothing to do with the content, but has everything to do with the best of the many, many anti-bush bumper stickers i see somerville.
