wrap me up in always

1042-april04-2007
let's continue this march.

what do you do when you drive in to work? like, what do you think about? is it weird that i think about these things (in no particular order):

are these weird things to think about? i'm not sure. the real question is am i thinking too much. maybe i should have left that unsaid. who knows? not me.

billups called boston a 'pain cave of a city,' which is the most apt description of this place i've ever heard in my life.
I don't know if any of you have ever had the pleasure of experiencing a Boston winter, but if not let me awaken your senses. It's basically an 8 month-long night of sitting in your bathtub tearlessly crying while listening to Townes Van Zandt/Joy Division mashups, half-heartedly trying to cut your wrists with the Lady Bic of some jawn you were hot for that you just found out gave brain to Mr. Len in the bathroom during some poetry slam in Central Square. No. It's really like that. For everyone. 8 months.
8 months of misery, and it's still fucking going. winter is not like this everywhere. winter is gone from most places by now. but not here. here its gray and overcast and in the low 40s all week, with snow expected tomorrow and friday. two things to note: 1) yes, everyone in boston is obsessive about the fucking weather. think about the implications of that if you dare. 2) ITS FUCKING APRIL AND WE'RE GETTING SNOW. what the fuck is this bullshit?

of course, saturday was sunny and in the 60s and the clearest blue sky known to man.

of course, plenty of other places get that kind of weather way more often than this pain cave does.

do i think too much?

do you?

UPDATE
i just read this:
Today's forecast for Chicago:

Gusty winds. Snow flurries developing this afternoon. Temps nearly steady in the mid 30s. Winds WNW at 25 to 35 mph. Winds could occasionally gust over 50 mph.
and i've decided that chicago sucks.

chicago thinks you suck.

actually chicago sucks for like 6 months - october-april - and is incredible the rest of the time. but those 6 months...god are they awful.

Actually Oct, Nov are not bad - you get the cool, crisp air and the wistful atmosphere of impending doom.
