yesterday morning i decided to go to dc to see trills and drew. i bought a ticket yesterday in the early afternoon from us airways that ended up being relatively inexpensive. i talked geoff into driving from pittsburgh to dc.
we had both had shitty weeks.
so after work i hauled ass home, packed in under 10 minutes, hopped in my car and drove to the airport. yes, i was willing to pay the $70+ it would cost to park there, because if i didn't i would not have a shot at getting on an earlier flight. 930pm arrival was ok, but 830pm is much more dinner-friendly.
i get there to see that the earlier flight was cancelled and mine was delayed over a hour. there was a big storm coming between boston and dc, and i guess the threat of terrible weather caused us airways to shift their schedules around. but, whatever, this was still going to be a fun weekend. except 20 minutes later my flight got cancelled too. 0 flights from boston to dc for the rest of the night. not just reagan, but all 3 dc-area airports.
so, i gave my ticket to someone at the gate with the intention of asking when the next available flight departed. she handed me a first class ticket for the 7:45am departure this morning, arriving at 9:19am in dc. i packed, i set my alarm, and i woke up at 6am to get ready...
only to see that the 7:45am to dc from boston was cancelled.
i called us airways and refunded my ticket. i'm going to check other airlines (something i should have done earlier now that i think about it) but i'm not holding my breath.
fuck.
UPDATE: i ended up going to dc. i'll have a post up about it tonight.
UPDATE 2: i ended up staying in dc an extra day. mega post being written now.
UPDATE 3: i'm on very little sleep and jen is stuck in atlanta tonight. also, i haven't hit the writing groove yet. dc post will happen, and it will be epic, but it will take some time.
the latest in a long line of disappointments
