the next video

the next video is coming soon, so rest easy. i think the only video of the first set i shared that was watchable at all was the third one, so go back and watch it.

jen and i saw "juno" on sunday. this movie is very likable. i'd go so far as to say if you do not like it, you might be heartless. at the same time, it felt very shallow, or more shallow than it should have. in "rushmore" it just seemed like so much more happened. not to say that theres a huge similarity, its just that we had sharp act breaks in both movies, but in one it only felt like maybe 5 things happened, and in the other it felt very full of characters and events and hilarity.

anyway, very likable, if you don't like it you suck, etc.

while i agree with most of your assessment, i do take issue with your use of the word 'shallow,' especially in comparison to rushmore.

rushmore is a hilarious movie, and it is brilliantly acted, but none of the characters are the least bit believable. that's what makes it so good. its an absurdist script that they play perfectly straight faced. that's what makes all his movies good.

juno, i agree, is a much slower film, but its also a much more real film. the characters are (for the most part) very emotionally engaging and easy to relate to. so i don't know if 'shallow' is a fair word to use.

maybe the characters are more real because nothing really happens

because in real life nothing really happens
